I'm not someone to deny that it took me quite some time to figure out what was going on in jumping caterpillar. this is not your average typing / kids game. other online and flash-based typing games help you build up speed. however, in jumping caterpillar, you need to be familiar with the home row keys. that said, this game does a good job of helping you build typing speed while using proper typing techniques. as simple as that sounds, it's not really easy... especially if you are someone who got used to typing speedily but with wrong finger positioning and typing techniques.
